Google I/O 2018 : ARCore 1.2 : Everything you should know

ARCore ( Augmented Reality)

At the Google I/O 2018 developer’s conference, Daydream product manager Nathan Martz introduced ARCore 1.2,The latest version of ARCore introduces three major new features — Sceneform, Augmented Images, and Cloud Anchors — and surprisingly adds limited support for certain iOS devices.

The new updated Google ARCore 1.2 will arrive with a Vertical Plane Detection which will enable the user to place the AR objects on more surfaces like textured walls and whatnot. A new feature called Augmented Images enables bringing images to life just by pointing the phones at them. Java developers now can build immersive 3D apps without any complications and what is best about this new AR is that it is highly optimized for mobile.
Cloud Anchors are offered on both Android and iPhone devices. Supported devices include iPhone SE, iPhone 6s series, iPhone 7 series, iPhone 8 series, and iPhone X.

Google also introduced Cloud Anchors with ARCore 1.2, which allows multiple devices to share information and collaborate to create something in a common space
multiple users can  play games and can do many intresting things together.

    TOOLS
    • New APIs and capabilities
    • Cloud Anchors API. Enables developers to build shared AR experiences across iOS and Android, by allowing anchors created on one device to be transformed into cloud anchors and shared with users on other devices.
    • Augmented Images API. Enables ARCore apps to detect and track images.
    • Vertical plane detection. ARCore now detects both horizontal and vertical planes.
